πIt's the Friday Call to Worship!π
My sons are 17, 6 and 3 years old. One is preparing for the last exams of his high school career; one is practicing subtraction; and one is learning to sing the ABC's. Almost every evening, all three brothers gather around our low coffee table to play dominoes. The oldest makes sure both of his brothers get a win, but all three are completely unified in purpose and passion. The proverbial "playing field" is leveled by their brotherhood.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how advanced you are when you come to that table. You're a brother. If you don't know which domino to play, we'll help you.
My oldest son started the domino craze. Soon, he will be starting a new chapter of his life. He will be dressing for job interviews, choosing the values he'll live by, and learning about life in a whole new way. I have no doubt, however, that he'll still spend many evenings crouched around the coffee table with his brothers.
The whole wide world has nothing to offer than can outshine the simply profound truth of coming home. You don't have to be anything but loved. In our house, it's not always as charming as it sounds. Sometimes those domino games end in meltdowns and everybody wishing they were somewhere else. It's a very imperfect picture of what's to come. But it is coming.
No matter where you are in life or where you've been... There's a place for you in God's family. You only have to call on the name of Jesus. Come home. Come to the table. Be loved just as you are. There's nothing on earth like this kind of love.
Let's worship together. Listen to "Enough" by Elias Dummer.
