πŸ™ŒIt's the Friday Call to Worship!πŸ™Œ

There have been a few seasons in our missions career when we didn't have enough money to buy makeup. I only keep a few, inexpensive cosmetics products on hand, but it's a little thing that makes me feel like me.

Almost ten years ago, I held an almost-empty bottle of makeup and looked at its almost-empty companions. I prayed, "God, please don't let me run out until we can buy more." Maybe it was ridiculous. Maybe it was vain. But God answered that prayer. The empty pump kept pumping, and the dry mascara tube kept providing. We were given a financial gift a few months later that set our finances back on track, and that's when all my makeup ran out! The same story has played out three times since then.

Something surprising happened this week, at the end of a heavy few weeks for our family. I felt the familiar sputter of a foundation bottle and scraped the edges of my mascara tube while getting ready one morning. I experienced as though my Heavenly Father was speaking our unique love language to say, "I'm going to sustain you through this, just like I always have. You won't run out."

I don't think He was just talking about the makeup. Later, when I told my husband, "I'm almost out of makeup," I wasn't speaking to our deficit. I was sharing a testimony. God has always sustained us through hard seasons, and I'm so grateful to have tangible proof to hold onto when I feel like I'm losing my grip.

There was a direct translation in my spirit from a costless prayer for makeup ten years ago to a much greater need now. We learn to see God, hear Him, and trust Him with all things by practicing with the small things. Don't discount the prayers for parking spots or forget to ask Him to help you carry your daily load. If He refills my makeup bottle, what will He do for you?
