Crocodile Peace
Crocs, snakes, tortoises - oh my!
Lifa sustained a serious injury on the rugby field on Saturday. Our whole family watched him get carried off the field on a stretcher. We spent the rest of the day waiting, praying and, finally, thanking God when he got cleared to go home. He’s been booked off school for recovery from a severe concussion, but, as it turns out, our house isn’t so restful!
Lifa woke up on Sunday morning with a massive headache AND the flu. The rest of us had adrenaline hangovers. My eyes were still puffy from sideline tears. Our rental home is an open plan, a home magazine’s dream. But it’s also ONE BIG ROOM - with hollow floors that rumble when you run and no separated spaces beyond bedrooms. Not optimal for recovery. I loaded the loud, little ones into the van for a longer ride than normal.
We were trying out a new place, counting on crocodiles to captivate us. It was better than we expected! The place was stunning. Maximum beauty. Maximum peace. And a crocodile skin on the floor.
Le Bonheur was a beautiful surprise. We wondered through the garden, explored an impressive snake exhibit, and went on an entertaining and educational crocodile tour. The guide was great. Jam held a baby tortoise. And there were SO MANY crocs!
Thank you, Le Bonheur, for being a surprising piece of peace for us. I know we’ll be back. Benjamin is determined to cage dive with the crocs.
